Theology on the Ground: Assessing Tim Sensing’s “Qualitative Research”
When: June 7, 2023, 4:15 pm - Wednesday
Where: Journals Room
Session 2
Session Abstract
Spanning denominational affiliations and theological orientations, Tim Sensing’s Qualitative Research (2011) Qualitative has become the most widely used textbook for Doctor of Ministry project thesis in the country. In 2022, Cascade published a second edition with major updates and expansions from the author. Given this work’s influence the publication of this second edition offers an ideal opportunity to reflect on the book, its theological commitments, influence, and wider place of qualitative research in ministry and theological reasoning. This session will host a conversation among participants and the audience, reviewing the book with an eye for its influence and how it frames the relationship between theology and qualitative methods.
