Forming the Formers: Helping Faculty Articulate Their Calling: A Roundtable Discussion

When: June 9, 2022, 9:00 am - Thursday

Where: Ezell 207

Session 3

Session Abstract

What am I supposed to do with my life? What is God calling me to do? Will my work matter? Faculty often mentor students as they wrestle with these questions, and we are grateful to be invited into such sacred conversations. However, faculty sometimes feel ill-equipped for such moments, in part because we need to wrestle with these questions for ourselves. In this session, Directors of faculty development and centers for teaching, learning and scholarship will discuss ways that we can help faculty explore and articulate their own sense of vocation. This investment will not only equip faculty to mentor students. By deepening their appreciation for the meaningfulness of their work, it will also sustain faculty through seasons of transition and burnout.
