Plenary

There is only one way for a democracy to thrive – by cultivating a sense of belonging. Christianity offers untapped resources for building a healthy reality of belonging rooted in God’s life incarnate. Yet this is a reality that American Christianity has shunned and therefore has always had a democracy that is near collapse and death. Dr. Willie James Jennings will deliver the seventh annual Fred D. Gray Plenary Lecture, considering how we might find the one chord that will sound a belonging that may build a healthy democracy. This session will include conversation with Dr. Joi Carr, Professor of English and Film, Pepperdine University, followed by an audience Q&A.
