Retrospective on Jack Lewis’s ‘The Ministry of Study’
When: June 10, 2021, 3:30 pm - Thursday
Where: Ezell 211
Session 5
Session Abstract
In 1981 Jack Lewis penned a short, but important essay titled “The Ministry of Study.” In it he critiqued models of ministry that disdain or marginalize the place of theological studies and articulated the value of study for ministers in particular and Christians in general. This retrospective brings together scholars and ministers tasked with discerning how Lewis’s essay holds up on the other side of almost 40 years of social development and change, and how such an essay might need to be rewritten today.
