This email is our long-awaited announcement that we now have secured the venue and date for the 2023 CSC, whose theme will be "What Will Be Our Future?"

I am pleased to say that our site will be in Houston, Texas at the Lanier Theological Library and Learning Center (pictured below). The construction of the new center is scheduled to time perfectly with the June 7-9, 2023 conference.

The Center, with world class Lanier Theological Library and the stunningly beautiful Stone Chapel, will provide a great venue to create and nurture an intellectual and Christian community that joins individuals and institutions to stimulate networks of scholarly dialogue and collaboration.

The image this year comes from the gorgeous quilt "we" created at the CSC last June. "Rags of Love" was the title of Dr. Catherine Meeks' stimulating plenary and was symbolized by the quilt created under the expert guidance of Mary Lou Hutson. It is altogether fitting and proper that "rags of love" serve as a segue and backdrop for the 2023 conference, moving us to ask, "What Will Be Our Future?"

Admittedly, this joyful announcement comes late in the CSC season. But not too late to plan for an excellent conference. Section leaders and committees will soon post calls for papers. Expect news on plenary speakers, endowed lectures and other pertinent information to post with regularity going forward.

During the current season when Lipscomb has served as the CSC's primary host, we visited Pepperdine in 2011, ACU in 2015 and LCU in 2019. We look forward to Mark Lanier's gracious hospitality in Houston at the Lanier Center in 2023.

Finally, as an appropriate segue from CSC '22 to '23, I alert you to Catherine Meeks' latest volume, "The Night is Long but Light Comes in the Morning: Meditations for Racial Healing," an excellent sequel to her presentation, "Rags of Love."
