Major Book Review: Brad East The Doctrine of Scripture
When: June 8, 2022, 1:00 pm - Wednesday
Where: Ezell 207
Session 1
Session Abstract
In her foreword to Brad East’s The Doctrine of Scripture (Cascade, 2021), Katherine Sonderegger writes that it is “an ambitious, learned, and deeply moving work of Ressourcement theology . . . the book sings.” This panel brings together scholars invested in the work of responsible and faithful Christian interpretation and use of Scripture to review East’s important new book. The panelists will explore the relations between East’s work and 1) the historic convictions of the Stone-Campbell movement, 2) premodern Christian use and interpretation of Scripture, 3) contemporary advocacy approaches to Scripture, and 4) historical-critical biblical scholarship.
