Revisiting Baptized In Blood: The Religion of the Lost Cause
When: June 8, 2022, 2:45 pm - Wednesday
Where: Ezell 107
Session 2
Session Abstract
Although Charles Reagan Wilson’s Baptized in Blood: The Religion of the Lost Cause, 1865-1920 was published over forty years ago, its relevance is perhaps more pronounced today than ever before, given the current debate over the meaning of the Confederacy and the monuments that symbolized—and continue to symbolize—its values. Two historians and one lay activist and grassroots teacher will discuss this book and its contemporary pertinence. Following those presentations, the author will respond.
