Ida B. Wells Working Group: Genuine Relationships as the Crucial Component Enabling the Prophetic Voice to Matter
When: June 10, 2021, 3:30 pm - Thursday
Where: Swang 110
Session 5
Session Abstract
We desperately need to create brave spaces where African Americans and white people can tell the truth to one another. This working group will reflect upon the work of Ida B. Wells as a passionate prophetic voice for our time. Truth telling in the setting of genuine relationships is the crucial component to enable the prophetic voice to matter. This approach was embodied in a yearlong conversation of truth-telling where a group engaged with one another, demonstrating a methodological example for a way forward in the racial healing paradigm.
